The Knights of Council 511 were out in force at the cluster picnic on September 21st. The weather cooperated and the parishes converged on Fort Monroe for an afternoon of food, fun and fellowship.

The Knights rolled out the big grill and cooked up a storm. Burgers and dogs were flying off the grill and parishoners tucked in to the picnic delicacies with gusto.
Mike Foley, Mike Henry, Mike Nisbet, Brian “Honorary Mike” Costello, and Art “Don’t call me Mike” Kelly manned the grill while Mike Araojo, Matthew Nisbet, Matt Byrne, Larry Spence, Omar Waldron, and Bill and Billy Dropski helped out wrapping
burgers and dogs, prepping condiments, and keeping the food table piled high for the hungry crowd.
The atmosphere was festive, and people were enjoying a fine fall day. The Knights were also a big part of the entertainment for the day, providing music, helping with the games for the adults and kids, and putting a serious dent in the toughest pinata ever to swing from picnic area #5.
Council 511 made their annual donation to the American Red Cross as Grand Knight Bill Moore presented a check to Becky Plate of the Eastern Virginia Region. The donation of $1200 will go toward the Red Cross’ mission of Disaster Relief, aid to Military Families, and Health and Safety Services.
Tom and Josh are fitting recipients of Family of the Month given their high level of involvement in the Knights of Columbus, Knight Cappers, and Parish. Tom, a Council Advocate, routinely assists with Council events and has taken on the arduous duty of Bookkeeping for our weekly BINGO sessions to benefit our charities. Josh is a vibrant supporter of the busy Knight Cappers schedule of events. Both are Parish Eucharistic Ministers. In addition, Tom and Josh stepped forward in response to our Pastor’s request for couples to host weekly sessions of the “Good News People” program. As they cheerfully and repeatedly give of their time, they are examples of what our organizations stand for; family oriented and always providing service to church and community. Join us in congratulating Tom and Josh on being Family of the Month!
